Aiming at reinforcing international contributions to research and development in India, the Department of Science and Technology, manages the VAJRA (Visiting Advanced Joint Research) Faculty scheme, which was launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi in January 2017. This programme enables a foreign researcher to come to an Indian institution or university for a short-term residency (1 to 3 months a year), in order to carry out research in priority science areas, alongside with a possibility to teach or mentors students. Selected VAJRA Faculties will be provided an amount of USD 10,000-15,000 a month to cover their travel and honorarium.
