The French Ambassador to India, Mr François Richier, had a meeting with Dr Jitendra Singh, Indian Minister of State for Science & Technology (Independent Charge) on 22nd July 2014. Jitendra Singh is a medical pratictionner, specialised in diabetes and endocrinology, and a BJP politician, Chief Spokeperson of the Jammu and Kashmire State. He was nominated Minister for S&T and member of the Prime Minister Office by India Prime Minister Narendra Modi, after the
elections, this may 2014.
Ambassador F. Richier and Min. J. Singh both agreed on the importance of close collaboration between France and India in Science and Technology.
They expressed satisfaction at the 50 years of successful cooperation in the field of Space, with two joint satellites Megha-Tropiques & Saral-Altika, Visit of French Minister for Foreign Affairs & International development the activities of the Indo-French Center for the Promotion of Advanced Research (CEFIPRA) and the recent launch of the Raman- Charpak Fellowship Program for the exchange of PhD students between the two countries.
In addition, they discussed about the Indo French Scientific Council, as well as further collaboration in medical research with Pasteur Institute and a potential new Indo-French program on metabolic diseases and diabetes.
